been trying to move since 2006, destined to be in my flat forever?
I've been trying to move for 5 years..but sequence of events makes me feel I'm doomed to never move..
Bought in 2004 far from friends and family as wanted my own place 'part rent part buy'..
after spending 2 years there decided it was time to make my next step, and put it on the market with the housing association (could have through an estate agent but was advised was better through the housing association)..2 other flats were on the market with estate agents at the same time and sold almost immediately..I was tied into a 6 month agreement with the housing association selling my flat at a lower price to the other flats (even though the same flat). they got me no viewings!
Early 2007- use an estate agent..stuck with them for 3 months, they also get no viewings on my flat!
Naturally I then change estate agents..One of the estate agents gets someone to make an offer..though they still need to sell their place.. Then that estate agent closes down..they don't tell me that, and so the buyer vanishes into thin air, as I obviously have none of their contact details...
Other estate agent I'm with then closes down a few weeks later..
Then I take it off the market for a few months as feel the flat has been on the market too long (2 years altogether by that point)..and in early 2009 decide to buy the other half of the flat..as this should increase the number of potential buyers (as it means landlords could buy etc as its a normal private flat now)..
The put it back on the market....and a couple of months later I get a buyer!!! horray...I..I find the house of my dreams and we are approaching exchange date..Then I find out my buyer has been planning to guzunder me by 10K all along at the last minute...they thought they would make a very nice profit by doing this..but as i'm skint...naturally this makes move impossible and so lose the house of my dreams..
By this point..now in 2010...got depression as its been going along too long..not to mention that flat is far away from my family, friends and work..
Anyway..after leaving it quite a long time..make some further enquires..and my lender advises I can re-mortgage my flat, rent it out, and get a new place using deposit money from the re-mortgage..excited I get my mortgage in place, view properties etc .get quotes from letting agents..I then ring the lender to query my repayments..and the person I speak to said I was mis-advised and I can't do this after all!!!!!
Theres also not much point in trying to sell again..as because of the house price cash..for the last year, 5 of the 10 flats in the block are on the market, and not one has a buyer..and most have been on the market one year (one at a massively reduced price making it impossible for the others to sell..but even the massively reduced one isnt selling..)
Its not just since the down turn I've been trying to move...its the last five years.
At the end of my tether..I'm feel doomed..seems I will always be trapped living in a part of the country on my own I don't know anyone..
